Encourage Employees to Get Educated

There are a number of opportunities within the community in which your employees can learn how to create a healthier and happier lifestyle for themselves and their families.  From informational brochures to hands on classes, the following organizations will be able to assist your employees.  You can direct your employees to these organizations or work directly with the organizations to create a specialized learning session in which your employees can participate as a team. 

Circle of Health Partnership
The Circle of Health Partnership strives to empower the community to develop and implement strategies and actions to decrease alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use for a healthier lifestyles for our youth. "Striving for healthy youth lifestyle choices and empowerment for life!"

Midland Area Chamber of Commerce
The mission of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce includes fostering a "high-quality, livable community." In order to help achieve this goal, a healthy lifestyle is part of the equation. The Chamber is in support of these efforts, which in turn, help fulfill its mission.

Midland Community Cancer Services
Midland Community Cancer Services has been providing cancer support and prevention education services since 1948. We are a United Way agency that provides free non-medical cancer support services to residents of Midland County and the surrounding area. Staff health educators help people stop smoking and offer cancer awareness, sun safety, tobacco awareness and diet and cancer prevention presentations. 

Midland Community Center
The Midland Community Center is the leading local non-profit organization in providing affordable and quality recreational, social, and personal development opportunities for all individuals and families.  Our almost 200,000 square foot facility houses three gyms, three pools, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, racquetball/paddleball courts, climbing wall, gymnastics area, childcare facility, 50+ Center for Active Adults, and more. 

Midland Community Tennis Center
Michigan’s largest tennis facility with 32 tennis courts. The Midland Community Tennis Center has programs for all levels and ages. Home of 20 tennis tournament including a professional tennis tournament in February each year. Looking for an adventure – Play Tennis.

Midland County Health Department will promote and protect the public's health through: Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Protection of the Environment.

The needs and interests of Midland County residents are the driving force behind MSU Extension programs. Smitty's Iron Works
Smitty's Iron Works brings you 8,000 square feet of total family fitness  Our facility provides a complete cardiovascular center, machine-circuit weight training equipment, 10,000 lbs. of free weights, and Hammer Strength equipment.  Additional services include childcare, group exercise, personal training, and tanning.   We also have a pro-shop offering nutritional drinks and supplements.  We would love to assist you in all your fitness needs! 
Need a Place for Your Employees to Exercise

Chippewa Nature Center 
Chippewa Nature Center offers free admission to 15+ miles of trails, including the 3.5-mile paved Chippewa Trail, from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year.  Enjoy free admission to the Visitor Center and Ecosystem Gallery, located at 400 S. Badour Rd., 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday and holidays.  CNC is a nonprofit organization that works to inspire people and institutions to protect the natural world.  Venture Out!

City of Midland

Have a Monthly mi-Vibe Day 

The main goal of mi-Vibe is to build a greater awareness among the community when it comes to making healthier lifestyle choices. Building awareness begins with each individual taking ownership of of this initiative. Creating awareness among your employees could be as simple as have a monthly or quarterly mi-Vibe day. 

The Midland Area Community Foundation has incorporated a mi-Vibe luncheon once a month where employees take turns planning a healthy meal and activity for the group.  Whether it be enjoying a picnic at the Tridge and taking a 10-minute walk on the Chippewa Trail or having lunch at the office and bringing in a special speaker to talk about nutrition, there are many inexpensive ways in which the Foundation plans to build awareness among staff.  We encourage you to do the same.
